2018 GMC Acadia: Modern and Capable
After a 10-year model stretch, the GMC Acadia was given a new lease on life in 2017. Now in its second model year, this second generation of GMC’s midsize SUV offers up a stellar look on the road, and an interior that’s loaded with amenities and creature comforts, as well as a solid drive and new engines to choose from.
For starters, the look of the 2018 GMC Acadia is equal parts muscular and smooth. The distinct front grille is instantly recognizable on the road, and the SUV’s signature LED wraparound headlights make a serious statement. Distinctive rear wrap-around glass also gives the Acadia a bold look, along with LED taillights. Available 17”, 18” or 20” wheels make sure the 2018 GMC Acadia is sitting pretty, too.
Inside, the 2018 GMC Acadia offers up room for up to seven passengers (but can also be configured to seat five or six only) comfortably. Soft touch materials are found throughout, and there’s even available French-stitched seating, as well as optional captain’s chairs for the second row. Third and second rows fold flat for ample storage space when needed, and there are 5 USB ports throughout the Acadia so no on has to worry about a low battery while on the road. There’s also available 4G LTE WiFi connectivity with available hotspot, as well as satellite radio, Apply CarPlay and Android Auto, and an available navigation system, as well.
Of note, there’s also something GMC calls Rear Seat Reminder. This feature is meant to remind the driver that there may be passengers in the rear by activating once the rear doors are opened during or up to 10 minutes before a trip. An audible warning will sound once the 2018 GMC Acadia is turned off, reminding those of up front of potential passengers still in the back.
An all-new 2.5L 4-cylinder engine comes standard in the GMC Acadia, and produces 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. There is also an optional 3.6L V6 that’s good for 310 ponies and 271 lb-ft of torque. Both FWD and AWD are available, but there’s only one transmission to choose from: a 6-speed automatic. Fuel mileage is rated at 11L/100km in the city and 9.2L/100km on the highway.
